application due date extended
Each summer YouthWorks provides life-changing, Christ-centered mission trips for over 30,000 students and adult leaders in over 70 communities across North America…and this summer, we’re sending a team of youth to Queens to partner with this top-notch organization.
Queens, a borough of NYC, is one of the most diverse communities in the world. With a population of 2.24 million people, almost half of the residents of Queens are foreign-born. We are excited for the youth at Encounter to interact with people with different storylines. From the busy streets of Jamaica Ave, the lively activities at senior centers, and getting splashed with water at Kids Club, our youth will discover the energy, exuberance and vitality that makes Queens such an incredible place.
We see this trip as an opportunity for our youth to learn how to love God and others more deeply, which is exciting stuff.
Who Can Go?
This trip is open to junior high youth going into 7th or 8th grade and high school students with a mature faith and a willingness to mentor younger participants. Our youth pastor and a few chaperones will go with the team. Up to 22 people can participate.
What to Expect…
Participants will plan and lead activities for children in the community, including Bible lessons, games, crafts and reading. Participants will also partner with local organizations to meet ongoing needs in the community.
How Much Will The Trip Cost?
The total cost of the trip will be approximately $350. This includes the registration through YouthWorks, as well as travel to and from Queens. Money for food during travel and souvenirs is not included in this price.
Where Am I Going?
They entirety of the trip will be in Queens, New York. Queens is a one of the five boroughs in New York City.
